We have new patient forms in our media section that you can detach, give to your doctor, and spread awareness of Hepatitis B.

25.7% of Alameda County residents are Asian Pacific Islanders. Therefore, the Alameda County Hep B Free Campaign hopes to increase awareness and education to the API community.

Hepatitis B is a disease that is caused by the Hepatitis B virus. It is often called the “silent killer” because it is asymptomatic. Thus people with the disease often don’t feel or see any symptoms, making it even more important to be screened and vaccinated. Hepatitis B has become a global epidemic & much more prevalent in the API community. 1 in 10 Asians in the API community are infected with Hepatitis B compared to 1 in 1000 in the rest of the population.

Chronic hepatitis B is responsible for 80% of all primary liver cancer worldwide. Liver cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in Asian American men. API’s have the highest rate of liver cancer of any race/ethnic group.
